Babywearing is for Everyone: Safe, Close, and Connected

Babywearing is for Everyone: Safe, Close, and Connected

I'm Valeria, Boba’s in-house babywearing consultant, I have the privilege of walking
alongside families as they discover the comfort and confidence that babywearing brings.
Through one-on-one free fit consultations that you can book online, content creation, and practical guidance, I get to share the knowledge and support that make these journeys easier.

But my connection to babywearing is personal too. As a mum of 2, I know the reality of tired mornings, restless evenings, and those heart-melting moments when your baby snuggles in close. For me, babywearing was a lifeline — and it’s why I’m so passionate about helping others experience its magic.

At Boba, we believe babywearing does more than simply carry your child. It helps Build  Connections and Nurture Growth—physically, emotionally, and developmentally. And as we  celebrate International Babywearing Week (or Babywearing Month, as we like to think of it),  there’s no better time to reflect on the beauty of this practice.

Why Babywearing Matters

At its core, babywearing is about closeness. Holding your baby against you strengthens the  bond you share, soothes fussiness, and helps your little one feel safe in the world. For parents and caregivers, it’s both grounding and practical—you stay connected while keeping your  hands free to move through daily life.

From the earliest days of skin-to-skin with a newborn to carrying a curious toddler on your  hip, babywearing grows with your family. It supports feeding, bonding, and rest, while also  helping babies regulate their breathing, temperature, and heart rate. This practice is as old as parenting itself—and today’s thoughtfully designed carriers make it easier and more  comfortable than ever.

Babywearing is for Everyone

One of the most beautiful aspects of babywearing is its inclusivity. It’s not reserved for one  kind of parent or one stage of life—it’s for mums, dads, grandparents, and caregivers alike.

There’s no single “right” way to babywear. Families have different needs, and there are  carriers for every stage, body, and lifestyle. Whether you’re soothing a newborn while  making a cup of tea, enjoying a walk outdoors, or carrying a toddler who still craves  closeness, babywearing adapts to your rhythm.

Safety First: The T.I.C.K.S. Rule

While babywearing is incredibly nurturing, safety is always the foundation. The T.I.C.K.S.  rule is a simple checklist to help ensure your baby is safe and supported:

T Tight – The carrier should hold your baby snug against your body.

I In view – Your baby’s face should always be visible.

C Close enough to kiss – You should be able to easily kiss the top of their head.

K Keep chin off chest – Make sure there’s space under your baby’s chin so their airway  is clear.

S Supported back – Their back should rest naturally in a gentle curve, with tummy and  chest against you.

These five steps ensure your baby is safe, secure, and comfortable every time you wear them.

Finding Your Perfect Carrier

Every baby—and every caregiver—is unique. That’s why Boba designs carriers that grow  with you:

Boba Bliss – A hybrid carrier that combines the comfort of a wrap with the ease of buckles— perfect for busy days and sharing between caregivers.
